Terroni began in 1992 as a reclamation — a slur against Southern Italians turned into a badge of pride. Over 30 years later, it's the most authentic Italian restaurant on two continents.
"Terroni" is a Northern Italian slur for Southerners — people of the earth, the soil. Cosimo Mammoliti from Calabria and Paolo Scoppio from Bari knew the word well. They chose it as their name — a reclamation of Southern Italian identity through the authenticity of the food.
The restaurant opened in Toronto in 1992 with a set of rules that have never changed: no substitutions, pizza served uncut, Italian wine only. Not rules for the sake of strictness — rules that preserve what makes the food Italian in the first place.
In 2007, Shereen Arazm brought Terroni to Los Angeles — to Beverly Boulevard, in a space that has since become one of LA's most fiercely loved Italian restaurants.
The menu was designed by chefs who spent years in Italy. Every ingredient is there because it belongs. Order it as written, or order something else.
There is a pizza cutter on your table. In Italy, you cut your own piece at your own pace. This is not a quirk — it is the correct way.
Our wine list is exclusively Italian. Over 1,000 bottles behind the blue bookcase. If it's not Italian, it's not on the list.
